Me and the devil Blues

Man, as of late I've been fighting off depression. The weather has a lot to do with one feeling blue, especially during Winter, but also every bill that we have, jumped up in cost. Our house payment, utilities, credit cards, sanitation, cable bill and health insurance, just to name a few, all went up in payment!! Now the bad thing is, our place of employment still has a salary freeze in effect. So while we are still being paid by 2008 standards, everything else is going up. It seems like I'm being targeted even more since I was asked by our church to take classes in Deacon training. Now to me there is now higher honor than being called and serve God, if I'm chosen I will serve with gladness. But Satan has a way of hitting you, and he's hit me pretty hard. As we struggle to make ends meet, I question God and ask where He's at and why is He not helping.
I know that God is indeed there and His timing is not as ours. I do think of the blessings that God has bestowed upon us, but when things look bleak, I seem to have short term memory. The three verses that I'm standing on now are II Timothy 1:7, James 4:7 & I Peter 5:8

What happened to all that "Hope & Change" crap?!?

I was reading the Hot Air blog, when I saw something that grabbed my attention, "Obama plans to kill middle-class tax credit". Hmm..what happened to this being permanent? This "Making Work Pay" tax credit wasn't very good from the get-go anyway. But slick Barry, with his words flowing from his mouth made it all sound so wonderful to his legion of minions. To find out more, go to the link..http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/79161-presidents-budget-seeks-an-end-to-tax-break-for-the-middle-class

Snooze Fest

I'll admit that I didn't watch SNObama's "State Of The Union" address last night but I did catch the "highlights" today on the internet. And judging by our Homeland Security fashion plate, Janet Nepolitano, I didn't miss much!! Same old crap spewing from the annoited one's mouth. I'm glad to see that a few people are seeing Barry for what he is, but others are still blinded by his idol status. My Wife said a few of her co-workers were talking about His speech last night and how great he is. Oh well, some people just love that tingley feeling up their leg when he speaks.

Congratulations to The Hawk!!

Finally, Andre Dawson is enshrined in the Hall Of Fame! I've been a big fan of Andre since his playing days with the Montreal Expos. He was the guy who I dreaded seeing up to bat against the Cubs and who usually killed us. But I respected & admired him as a player. He was a true 5 tool player in his early years with the Expos. When the Cubs signed him in March of 1987, I just freaked, sure the speed wasn't there as it once was, but this man could hit & field plus he had a cannon for an arm. Needless to say, '87 was his break out year and was voted MVP that year. It was fun going to Wrigley Field in '89 and watching "The Boys of Zimmer". In this steroid induced playing era we have now, it's good to look back at someone who just used his talent to play the game. With a .279 career batting average, 438 home runs, 1,591 RBIs, 2774 career hits and 314 stolen bases, it's about time! Now if we can just get the veteran's commitee to vote in Ron Santo..

Winter Storm Watch!

Winter has only just begun and already I'm tired of it. Winter is just a depressing season to me because you're mainly cooped up in the house with nothing to do and you feel helpless, well to me at least. Anyway, The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch here in central Illinois with the possibility of up to 5 inches of snow tonight and into tomorrow with blowing and drifting snow tomorrow afternoon. Just freakin' great! Oh well, only 73 more days till Spring.

One Down, Three To Go

Well, we made it through the first year of the Annoited One's presidency. It seems the shine is starting to fade a bit as his approval ratings dip, which proves that you can't polish a turd. I'm hoping as soon as the Obama Kool-Aid runs out that people will begin to wise up, but I kind of doubt it. As long as dingbats like Joy Behar & Rachel Maddow have their own shows on T.V. and people continue watching, there is always going to be brain dead people who believe the crap spewing from their lips. My wife and I love to watch "Iron Chef" on the Food Network but we skipped it last night due to more Obama overload, it's bad enough they are on every magazine cover monthly, but now we get subjected to them on television shows as well. I'm just trying to figure out what's weirder, Michelle Obama's dress or Chef Mario's shoes.

Just About Over

Pretty soon we can say goodbye to 2009 and hello to 2010 and a new decade. I found myself pretty stressed out this year over many things. Of course, like most, finances was top of my list. It seems everything keeps going up but our paychecks!! Credit card companies get bail outs from our friendly government and in turn send me notices that they are raising their rates!! Once again, our workplace still has a salry freeze which means no raise again for the second year in a roll. My wife says I need to relax and trust God's guidance in our lives. 2010 brings the promise of a new year, I pray that it's a good one.

Merry Christmas To All

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

God Rest Ye Merry Headbangers

Ronnie James Dio has to be my favorite metal singer. To me, he is the king of metal. And when I found out from his web site that he is fighting stomach cancer, my heart sank a bit. I said a prayer for Dio and kept waiting for updates from his website. So far, things seem to be going well and He seems to be doing good with the treatments. So for a Christmas share here is a great metal Christmas compilation for you that includes Ronnie, as well as Alice Cooper, Lenny Kilmister, Dave Grohl, Joe Lynn Turner, Tommy Shaw and a host of others! Bang Your heads and enjoy...http://www.mediafire.com/?tjmoynmlknz

13 more shopping days till Christmas

Have you finished your shopping yet? Except for some odds & ends stocking stuffers for our son, we are finished! I always beathe a big sigh of relief when we finish because I get so danged stressed when we shop and me being a finacial worry-wart doesn't help matters much! How about another Christmas share? From 1963 to 1969, The Beatles did something cool and sent out little flexi disc to members of their fan club giving them Christmas greetings. Now how cool is that? Does anybody even do that anymore? Probably not. Now the 1963 to 1967 records are pretty cool and funny, they feature all 4 together larking about and having a good time. Sadly the 1968 and 1969 records see the divisions within the band and messages were recorded solo and spliced together. Nevertheless, for your listening pleasure, here are The Beatles!http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QE1JF508

Winter Wonderland

Oh, the weather outside is frightful..okay, not so much here in central Illinois. But elsewhere in Iowa and Northwestern Illinois, NOAA says "blizzard"!! Here, the forcast calls for maybe an inch of snow and a wind advisory with winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour at times. I know my truck was rocking on the way to work. And when I took our Westie out this morning, he worked very fast and scampered right back to the door!! So if You're stuck in this, my heart goes out to you. How about some great Christmas lounge music to enjoy? Steve & Eydie Gorme's "That Holiday Feeling"

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!

Well, tomorrow is my wife's birthday and we intend to celebrate after I get off work in the afternoon. We have dinner reservations for our favorite little Italian diner http://www.saputos.com/ And in honor of my wife's birthday, here is a nice holiday share from her favorite singer, Lana Lane. Lana has to be one of the best female rock singers this side of Ann Wilson. If You've never heard her before, do yourself a favor and check her out... http://www.mediafire.com/?mmctmngmoye

Happy Thanksgiving

Well it's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Man, this year has flown by. It's been a tough year for everyone I know, with the economy the way it is, our country seemingly going in the wrong direction, etc. But I'm going to try and focus on the blessings I do have and be thankful for those. I know Thanksgiving is about turkey & football to many (me included), but do give pause and reflect on the things you should be thankful for.

Uncle John

Last Tuesday my mom called and said that my Uncle John had died, he was 66. I hadn't seen my Uncle John for years and it seemed like I was grasping to remember something about him after she called. I could still picture his Ford Fairlane which was his pride & joy. Yesterday was the funeral and it seemed that as I sat there my mind was flooded with memories, the one that stuck out the most was back in 1974 when he had his long shaggy beard and I told him that he looked a lot like one of The Beach Boys and would fit right in on stage with them, he laughed and thought that was pretty cool. He was a hard working man who loved his family, his church and his favorite team the Chicago Cubs. As time wore on he developed some health issues including alzhiemers. I perfer to rememeber him how he was. God Bless you Uncle John, we'll miss you.

Lennon

Wow! It's hard to believe if John were still with us he would have been 69 today. I am an absolute Beatles freak and John has always beem my favorite. Some people find that hard to believe with me being a Conservative and John was pretty radical in the late sixties and early seventies. But to me, it's about the music.

Kick Ass!

Saw a great movie over the weekend called "Zombieland". Being a horror movie freak, I was looking forward to this when I first saw the previews, and man this movie did NOT dissapoint. I think my son and I laughed through pretty much the whole movie and Bill Murray's cameo was awesome. Gore and laughs, what could be better?
